About the Training: This training is for friends and family members of individuals living with mental illness who would like to become certified to facilitate NAMI Family Support Groups. The training is provided at no cost with expenses covered through a contract with the Missouri Department of Mental Health. The training is limited to 18 participants.
About Family Support Groups: NAMI Family Support Groups are free, peer-led support groups for family members, caregivers and loved ones of individuals living with mental illness. Participants gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others facing similar circumstances, and the groups are led by NAMI-trained facilitators in pairs of two. About the Training: This training is for individuals living with mental illness who would like to participate in the NAMI In Our Own Voice Presentation Program. The training is provided at no cost with all expenses covered using a grant issued by the US Department of Health and Human Services through SAMHSA. The training is limited to 16 participants.
About the In Our Own Voice Program: Individuals living with mental illness deliver interactive, stigma-reducing presentations to groups and organization. Presenters work in groups of two. The presentations also include a video component and group discussion. Presenters are eligible to receive a $30 speaker fee and mileage reimbursements upon submission of required documents to NAMI Missouri.
