NAMI Missouri’s 31st Annual Conference, Be The Change – Break The Silence, will be held on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Holiday Inn Executive Center, 2200 I- 70 Dr. Southwest, Columbia, MO.

Keynote Presentation – Deena Baxter, a published author and wellness advocate will present “SURVIVING SUICIDE – Mending the Family Tree with Heartache, Art and Humor.”  In 2014, Deena launched The Surviving Suicide & Sudden Loss Project in partnership with NAMI of Collier County, FL. The project includes both a book and creative arts website with a mission to promote life-affirming mental wellness.  The book, titled SURVIVING SUICIDE – Searching for “Normal” with Heartache and Humor, received the Mascot Books 2014 Outstanding Author Award for Non-Fiction. Conference attendees may reserve a hardback copy of SURVIVING SUICIDE for only $5 (a $15.95 discount!) using the registration form in the conference brochure below.

Presenters – The 2017 conference features an outstanding selection of speakers:  Child psychiatrist Christina Gesmundo, MD FABPN who will discuss bipolar disorder; Dr. Hemant Thakur presents on Veterans & PTSD; Ronda Reitz, PhD, Missouri’s leading expert on dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT); Christy Hutton, PhD, will discuss recovery; Austin Campbell, Pharm D, will provide the latest information on medication and research; and Todd Williams will present on working with youth.

Accreditation –  CEUs are FREE to this year’s Conference attendees upon request. The Missouri Institute of Mental Health will award 5.9 clock hours or 7.1 contact hours (.7 CEUs) for this activity. The MIMH credit will fulfill clinical social work and psychologist licensure requirements in Missouri.
